Speaking at the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai on 11 February, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, expressed optimism about widening trade cooperation between Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The minister affirmed his country’s commitment to making use of the free trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council to grow its exports to the Kingdom.

He noted that Indonesian exports to Saudi Arabia grew by 11% in 2024, with further growth expected during the current year.

For its part, Saudi Arabia expressed interest in deepening cooperation in tourism, with a focus on the island of Sumatra as a potential destination for Saudi visitors.

The Indonesian minister welcomed the initiative, affirming that Saudi Arabia is a core partner in Indonesia’s long-term economic vision, “Golden Indonesia 2045”.
